Leslie Thomas (Brother)

"At 96 years of age, our Big Sister Fan was the eldest of twelve children, born to Erasmus Thomas and Alice Thomas in the village of Tabernacle, St. Kitts.

When our mother reached the age of 80, we organized the first Thomas family reunion in London, England, bringing all the siblings together. It was one of the greatest gifts we could have given to one another, and especially to our mother—a moment of unity, love, and gratitude that will remain with us forever.

Some of my most cherished memories of Sister Fan are the times our siblings and family visited her in the hospital. Even then, she spoke with joy and excitement about the wonderful, loving family she had been blessed with.

She knew she was loved.

On behalf of my family, Janine, Karina and Marlowe, I would like to express my love and gratitude for my Sister Fan, who I lived with from the age of 12 years.

She most certainly was a role model for me and my children.  She taught us how to be proud of our heritage. She was sophisticated and eloquent.  She always encouraged my children to achieve their goals.  She inspired me in so many ways, and I owe my life achievements to her sound advice.

She will sadly be missed by us all.

"My Tribute to my Sister Frances

My name is James Thomas, brother of Frances Edwards. 

Sister Frances, whom I affectionately called Sister Fan, was the first born of the Thomas siblings.

Growing up, I regarded Sister Fan as the leader of our group and I often sought and trusted her advice and wisdom. 

After graduating school in Tabernacle village in St.Kitts, Sister Fan served as a teacher in the local schools in both Tabernacle village and Molyneux village in St.Kitts. She often spoke positively about her experience as a school teacher.

She played organ music well and led the local Methodist church choir. 

She was adventurous and courageous. As an example, she, along with I and a few friends, climbed the mountain, Mount Liamiga in St. Kitts, to the highest peak, which is just less than 4000 feet.  I remember her exhibiting more courage than most of us in the group.

I always admired Sister Fan for her enormous strength and capability in dealing with life‘s challenges.

She always exhibited great self-confidence. She had a good sense of humor.

I will miss you dear Sister Fan.  May you rest in peace"
