

Jose otherwise known as "JOE" to his loved ones and close friends. He was born on February 4, 1942 in Igburi, Patnongon, Antique, Philippines. Jose had big dreams for his life and his goal to finish school, that he left his province to venture out to the city of Manila. He successfully received his Trade Test Certificate for 3rd Class Automotive Mechanic on November 1977. He started his career as a Plant Mechanic at the Regional Service Centre of U.S. Embassy in 1967. He also operated the Standby Power Plant whenever power failure occurs. Jose received a Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. Information Agency for his skills and dedication of assuming major responsibilities in response to an emergency situation caused by the suspension of activities by RSC Beirut, from November 1975 to February 1976. He took on a different journey and left Philippines in pursuit of a more elusive job in Saudi Arabia. He worked at Ghazlan Power Plant as Maintenance Scheduler then later on promoted to Warehouse Maintenance Supervisor. In 1992, Jose and his children migrated to Canada to be with his wife. He worked as a General Assembler at Closure Metal Products and retired from the same company in 2010.
Jose had a passion of fixing things whether it was electronics, automotive or carpentry. He was "Jack of all trades". He was compassionate and ready to help anyone who needed it. On July 17, 1972, he married the love of his life Josephine Altamirano Diaz. They raised two daughters Sherr Marie and Sherlaine and a son Sherwin. He was a great family man who loved his family so much and will do anything to provide for them. Jose had an infectious smile and laughter. He had a great sense of humour and days were never dull when he was around. Jose was intelligent and loved trivia games. Jose had a great loved for animals most especially dogs. His loved for dolphins was very apparent, more so when he had a chance of touching, hugging and kissing them during a trip to Bahamas. He also loved fishing and the sport of baseball particularly Toronto Blue Jays team. Every day he will ask you if there's a game on TV.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Vicente and his mother, Marcela and 2 brothers, Miguel and Filomino. He was survived by his wife, Josephine, his three children, Sherr Marie, Sherwin and Sherlaine (Jose Jared IV) and three grandchildren, Sean Charles, Austin Jared and Frances Ester Rose. He was also survived by two sisters, several cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on April 29, 2020 at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home and Cremation Centre at 10 am for viewing and funeral service at 11 am. A celebration of life will be schedule in the near future.
