Mary Rose Connolly

Mary Rose Connolly passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021 at the Village of Taunton Mills Retirement Home in Whitby, Ontario, at the age of 89. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Leonard and survived by her children Scott and Jane (Michael).

Mary was born in London, England, growing up under the loving care of her mother along with her younger sister Lucy, who passed away peacefully December 1, 2021. At the age of 17 Mary entered Nursing School at South London Hospital and trained at Edgeware General Hospital. Upon graduation she enjoyed nursing in Midwifery, Surgery and Geriatrics, both in England and Canada.

In the late 1950s Mary and her best friend, Renee, sailed from England to Canada. They nursed in hospitals in Hamilton, Red Deer, Abbotsford and Collingwood before Mary finally settled in Toronto. It is through her sister she met her future husband, Len. They married on July 7th, 1962 and in 1964 they moved to West Rouge, where they raised their children.

Over the years, Mary treasured her many friendships with her nursing colleagues, fellow tennis players, Grace Church family, the Rouge Hill neighbours and many other dear friends and family. She will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved her.

A very heartfelt thank you to those who lovingly cared for Mary in her final years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Grace Church West Hill. Date to be announced to family and friends in 2022.
