Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. He lived his entire adult life in Toronto.
Survived by wife of 55 years Mary Ann Murphy and their 3 children: Jeff (Mara), John (Claudia), and Kelly (Glenn), his grandchildren Amanda (Shawn), Madeleine, Daelen, and great grandchildren Liam and Brielle.
John will be missed dearly by family and friends alike. He was a private, humble and generous person, deeply treasured by those who knew him. He was dedicated to his family and put others needs before his own. John was always willing to listen and his words were wise and carefully chosen.
