

Barbara (Bobbie) von der Heyde (nee Krantz) age 93, died in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida with her loving family at her side. Bobbie was born on October 10, 1923 in St Vincent’s Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida. She was the only child of Arthur Anders Krantz and Ada Adams Krantz. A 1941 graduate of Jacksonville’s Robert E. Lee High School, she married fellow Lee graduate Henry (Hank) von der Heyde, Jr .USMC on July 20, 1944. Their 50 years of marriage took them from the University of Florida’s Flavette 3 Village, to military postings around the world. Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps in 1975, Bobbie and Hank returned to family and friends in their hometown of Jacksonville.
A devoted parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church, Bobbie served as a member of the Assumption Council of Catholic Women. As a career volunteer, she also served as a member of the All Saints Catholic Nursing Home Auxiliary, the Ladies Section of the German American Club, and as a charter member of the Scandinavian –American Society of the South. During her many years as a military wife, Bobbie served in leadership positions with the Girl Scouts of America in Virginia, Hawaii and Arizona. In her later years, her greatest enjoyment came from her work with the Better Breathers group of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center of St. Vincent’s Hospital and with the Assumption Council of Catholic Women.
Bobbie was pre-deceased by her husband Hank von der Heyde, Jr.
She is survived by their six daughters: Karen (husband Brooks) Remencus of Arnold, MD, Madelyn (husband Alex) Cook of Tucson, AZ, Cecelia (husband James deceased) Daratany of Lake Worth, FL, Lisa von der Heyde O’Connor of Jupiter, FL, Helene (husband Barry) O’Reilly of Vilano Beach, FL and Mary (husband Thomas) Keller of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Bobbie loved her 14 grandchildren: Leslie Remencus, Stephanie Remencus (husband Chris) Luzier, Brooks Remencus Jr., Elizabeth Daratany, Katherine Daratany, Sarah O’Connor, Laura O’Connor, Mary O’Connor, Michael O’Connor, Zoe O’Reilly, Leah O’Reilly, Joshua (wife Jamie) Keller, Stephen Keller, and Tara Keller, and her great granddaughter Olivia Luzier.
The family is grateful to those staff members of the Gardens Court in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida who cared for her and to Trustbridge Hospice. A memorial mass will be held on July 22 at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
