Garland C. Woods, Jr. “Woody,” of West Palm Beach passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 16, 2018. Garland was born in Lucas, Kentucky to Essie Elmore and Garland C. Woods on September 20, 1929. He grew up on a farm and realized early in life that farming was not for him. On his 18th birthday, he borrowed bus fare from his half-sister and headed to Fort Knox, Kentucky and joined the United States Air Force. He became a flight engineer for Military Air Transport and enjoyed a 20-year career flying around the world. Upon retirement, he started a second career with John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning that spanned 42 years. He always said, “I have only had two jobs in my lifetime, and I enjoyed both of them very much.” He was proceeded in death by his son, James Edward Woods. He will be dearly missed by Violet Woods (wife) , Barbara Parton, Vickie Hilberding (Rob), Essie Raszewski (Fran), Mavis Jewitt (Thomas), daughter in law Connie Woods, Garland C. Woods III (Lynda), Anna Wishard (Keven), Brother Eddie Woods (Bonnie), 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, nephews Wayne Woods (Tracy), Jerry Woods (Esther) and many other family members. Family will receive visitors for a Memorial Service on Tuesday, June 19th at 6:00pm, at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. Interment will take place at South Florida National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
