

Mark Edward Bryant, 81 years old, of Palm Beach, FL, rose to the Heavens to be with God on Friday, February 14, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 8, 1932 in South Boston, MA, he was the son of William and Kathryn (Higgins) Bryant. Mark attended St John’s Prep School in Danvers MA; graduated Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA; and went on to Xavier Jesuit College in Cincinnati, OH. He enjoyed playing football with the South Boston City Point Wildcats, and also played at St. John’s Prep and Xavier. Mark was an avid sailor and skipper in the Indian and 210 Class competitions in Boston and Marblehead. He was also a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mark’s friends stretched from his beloved South Boston to St. Thomas and from Palm Beach to Hawaii. He was a life member of the Squantum Yacht Club; and a member of the Palm Beach Yacht, The Beach Club of Palm Beach; as well as the Outrigger Club in Diamond Head, HI.
Mark was especially honored to serve as a longtime usher at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Palm Beach.
He leaves behind a sister Joan Carroll; Godson, Mark Hall; a nephew William Carroll; two nieces Beverly Wiedmann and Pamela Carroll Gold; and many close friends. Mark was predeceased by a sister, Clare and her son, William Baldwin and his longtime companion, Charlotte Borg Hartman.
Friends may gather on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33417 with a Scripture Service to be held at 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 144 North County Road, Palm Beach, FL 33480. Further services and interment will be held in Massachusetts.
