graduate (1946), resident of NYC for many years, and accomplished sculptor, died peacefully
in her Palm Beach Gardens home on August 8th, just shy of her 100th birthday. Always elegantly dressed, Mickey’s unique gift was to capture the essence of character in evocative busts of famous people such as the Kennedys and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as family and friends. Her works are in several
museums and reside as favored treasures in many homes. In addition to producing beauty, Mickey’s
joy in life was nurturing talent in others; she was a founding member of the Armory Arts Center
in West Palm Beach. Above all, she was a devoted mother, gently encouraging her four children to
express their unique personal gifts. Predeceased in 1990 by her loving husband of 43 years, Murray
Stuart Kaplan, and in 2019 by her sister Simone Goldblum, Mickey is survived by her children:
Janet Belsky, James Kaplan (Geraldine), S. Jerrold Kaplan (Michelle), and Amy Kaplan Eckman (Dr.
Steven Pally), 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her almost 100 years on this planet
is a testament to the consummate life well lived. Memorial donations may be made to the Armory
Art Center, https://canvas.armoryart.org/donate
