Thurman Curtis Reece, 85, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2019 in Palm Beach County, Florida. Thurman was born May 18, 1934 in Heidelburg, Kentucky, to Sam Reece and Emma Lou (Burton) Reece. Like his father before him, Thurman served as a PVT in the United States Army for a couple of years and was stationed in places like Tacoma, Washington, and Fairbanks, Alaska. Just before he served, he found the love of his life, Peggy Janice (Linville) Reece (1936-2011) and they married in 1954. Thurman worked as a Refrigeration and A/C specialist for decades as well as establishing his own business "Mr. Cool" alongside his wife. Thurman and Peggy moved to South Florida in 1976 and settled down in the sunshine state for the remainder of their lives and were happily married for 57 years.
Thurman Reece is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Reece and is survived by his two daughters, Jacquelyn Jean (Reece) Conyers and Kathryn Marie (Reece) McDowell; his five grandchildren, Cherilyn Basrally, Brandon Gonzalez, Tara Conyers, Reece Conyers, and David Conyers; his two great grandchildren, Josiah and Caleb Basrally; his siblings, Silvia (Reece) Floyd, Robert Reece, and Jewel Reece; and all of his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
As a veteran PVT of the US Army, Thurman Curtis Reece shall be properly honored and laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery.
This hardworking, loving father and grandfather will be greatly missed but always remembered and loved by his family, friends and neighbors. His memory and legacy will live on through all of those he encountered in his life. He was a friend to everyone.
