William F. Cronan, a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away at home on January 10, 2026. Bill was born April 1, 1957, to Dorothy M. Cronan and Frederick L. Cronan. He grew up in New Haven, CT, and was educated at The Taft School and Boston University. In his youth, Bill was renowned for his exceptional skills as a hockey player.
After college, Bill’s interest in the financial markets led him to New York City, where he was an employee of Legg Mason. During this time, Bill met Louise W. Cronan, the love of his life. Bill and Louise were married on May 25, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia.
In the early 1990s, Bill and Louise made Atlanta their home, along with their two boys. In Atlanta, Bill was a long-time employee of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he was a very successful auction trader. Bill’s SunTrust associates fondly referred to him as “the chairman of the boards” due to his expertise when it came to crossword puzzles.
In retirement, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, watching classic films, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Additionally, Bill took great pride in his commitment to Florida Cancer Specialists, where he volunteered multiple times per week.
Bill is survived by his wife Louise, his sons Robinson and Wilcox, and his sister Ellen.
Bill’s service will be held on January 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Bethesda by the Sea’s Garden Chapel. At 6:00 pm, the family will receive visitors at Café Sapori, Bill’s favorite restaurant, in West Palm Beach.
