Norman W. Thor

THOR, Norman W. April 23, 2023 of Elma, NY. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Kanehl). Loving father of David Thor, Bonnie (Ronald) Ilecki , James Thor and Linda (late Frederick) Rudin. Cherished grandfather of Lauryn Rudin. Dear brother of the late Harry (late Iris) Thor. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Private family services were held. Norman graduated from Buffalo Technical in 1945. He attended SUNY Buffalo, Millard Fillmore College and ECC where he majored in Business Administration. He retired from NYNEX in 1985 after 35 years as Corporate Manager for the Upstate NY Region. He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and served in the Italian Theatre of operation. He joined the US Naval Reserve in Niagara Falls and served 4 years in a staff position. Norman volunteered in many church related religious organizations and received the St. Joseph the Worker Award in 1997 from St. Vincent de Paul Church in Springbrook. He was involved for 35 years in the Parish as President and Treasurer if the Springbrook Conference and for 3 years as Diocesan President. Norman was also a former member of the East Aurora Country Club and an avid golfer. As a hobby during retirement, he repaired over several thousand watches donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
