SCHWARTZ - Richard M. “Dick” Passed away May 10, 2022. He was born November 11, 1939 to the late John and Mildred Schwartz; husband of Susanne (nee Simser) for 57 years; father of Joseph (Judy), Elizabeth (James) Causyn, Kathleen (Gray) Leonard; grandfather of Sarah, Matthew, Thomas, Andrew, Daniel, David, Erin and Michael; brother of Jean (late Ken) Karr, James Schwartz, predeceased by Robert (Rosemary), Ann Brigden and Edward; survived by many nieces and nephews. Dick was a graduate of Clarkson College of Technology in Civil Engineering, 1965. He joined his father’s architectural firm; John G. Schwartz, Architect, which became Schwartz, Reinhardt and Schwartz and then Schwartz Engineering. A highly respected engineer, he successfully completed over 2000 designs for structures and systems for hospitals, churches, schools, banks and other businesses. Many deals were sealed with a firm handshake. He had a passion for family, parades, marches, fireworks, bicycling, Adirondack Mountain climbing, and classic cars which led to meeting Sue. He was a member of Citizens Advocating Memorial Preservation (CAMP), Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site, Diocesan Art and Architecture Committee, and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, 3-7 PM, at HOY FUNERAL HOME, 3855 Seneca St., West Seneca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 10 AM, at Queen of Heaven Church, 4220 Seneca St., West Seneca. Please assemble at church.
