Alan was born on 3/9/56 in Murray, Utah to Marie and Gary Wanner.
Alan always said he was born in the wrong time in history. He loved the mountains, hunting, fishing, and going to rendezvous. In another time, he would have been a Mountain Man known as “Bear Hair”.
He had a good sense of humor and loved teasing the kids when they were young. He shared with them his love for the great outdoors, and now they too, enjoy many of the things that he enjoyed.
Alan attended Cottonwood High School and then joined the Army where he proudly served our country. In his youth, he liked to ride bulls, dance and never missed out on a good time. He loved being out in the woods hunting and fishing with his family.
He was a painter, a trade he learned from his father Gary, and he spent most of his career working at Salt Lake Community College where he was the Head Painter.
One of his last accomplishments was becoming a member of the Mountain Man Association.
Alan is survived by his wife Connie Wanner, his children Natale (Eric) Pauly, Jared Wanner, Laura Wanner, Kathy Jo (Walt) Roberts, Bobbi Jo (Sheldon) Ames, Dottie (Hector) Zabriskie, Jamie (Travis) Ames, Misti (Jim) Garlic, April (Kody) Spencer. His parents Myron and Pam Bird, his brothers Mike (RaeDene) Wanner, Steve (Amy) Wanner, Todd (Kris) Bird, Jack (Karen) Bird, Kirk (Lesa) Bird, Danny (Tara) Seethaler, sister Cameo (Jeff) Haag. 30 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren
