Al was always a great friend to me.We enjoyed many hours together at the ball field.With Al coaching in the minors and I in the majors I always look to draft his players up to the majors to play for me due to I always knew that he taught his 9 and 10 years olds how to play the game of baseball right.His kids were always well coach and I knew i would be getting a good ball player.He was always great fun at "Bruce Field" in Kearns.Al was there when my parents passed away and  always had that "BIG" heart towards everyone.I know what he went though when his wife passed away and I know he is back with her and enjoying her company again.Both Al and Marge were so good to all the young people and all the young people loved the two of them.Thanks Al for the great times.God bless you and all your family.

papa you was my best freind ahave been and always well be, you made kearns pony baseball fun and when i am thinking of you i well be at the baseball field and well always have your memeory in my heart. i loved you papa as my grandpa with the advice you gave me as a single dad and the advice you taught me as being an baseball umpire. I and many in the class of  1951 at Southern High School remember and regret loosing another class member. It was a small class and Al and his brother, Harold were quiet members who were liked by all. It was a great treat to see him and Marjorie at one of our class re-unions. Pappy,Al will be greatly missed. He was the reason we played at Kearns Pony, we loved seeing him every summer. We had many good visits sitting watching the games. We will all miss you and never forget our kind friend.

So on my fridge I have a index card with my boys batting average, it's been there for 8 or 9 years. Of course it was prepared by this great man Papap. Thanks for sharing your father and grandfather with all of us. We were blessed to have him in our lives.  We can all hope to life live so well as Al. May comfort find it way to you all during this time.

Papa! Al was such a great man for those of at Kearns Pony. I always loved seeing his score book full of all the kids' names. He will always be remembered in the corner of that dug out.

Our prayers got out to the Poland family.  We will miss Uncle Al but know that he is now with Aunt Marj. Until you are with them again they will be watching over you and giving you peace.

I played baseball against Coach Polland and the Phillies. He coached me on the allstar team as well. Coach Polland was always a class act. He touched many lives and was a great example.
