Bart Ogden of Magna, Utah, returned to his Father-in-Heaven on August 22, 2010.
Bart was born June 10, 1950 in Richfield, Utah to Verl Chidester and Esther Madsen Ogden. He grew up working on his father’s farm south of Richfield. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1969. He served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1969 to 1971 in the East Central States Mission. Following his mission he attended Salt Lake Community College and learned brick masonry. He worked in construction from then until the time of his death. The Jordan River Temple was one of the projects he enjoyed working on. He married Alveda Cheryl Norman on November 22, 1974 in the Manti Utah L.D.S. Temple. They have lived in Magna since 1976.
Bart was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings in his ward. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ and was able to benefit both his family and ward with his talent. He loved the temple and served there often as a patron. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains and walking around his neighborhood.
Bart is survived by his parents, Verl and Esther Ogden of Richfield; his wife, Cheryl and son, Norman of Magna, daughter, Betsy (Sean) Maxwell of Salt Lake City; brothers, Robert (Roxy) of Cedar Hills, Lynn (Laurel) of Provo, and Wayne (Carren) of Richfield; sisters, Lola (Phil) Speckart of Holladay and Joyce (Brad) Petrucci of Sandy, along with a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at the Lake Ridge 16th Ward L.D.S. Meetinghouse at 3606 South Wing Point Drive (7620 West) in Magna on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit the family between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday evening at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Lake Ridge 16th Ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park
