

On January 3, 2018, our beloved father and “Bumpa” passed away peacefully surrounded by family. On January 8, 2018, his sweetheart, our beloved mother and “Nana” also passed away surrounded by family.
Leonard L. “Roy” Neilson. Born November 3, 1927 to Leonard H. and Ida A. Neilson in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a youth he excelled in tumbling and was known to walk up and down the stairs on his hands. He joined the Navy serving our country in WWII and he was a witness to atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll, So. Pacific. Upon returning, he married his sweetheart Beverly, and was employed by PIE Trucking, Sears Roebuck & Co., and the US Postal Service.
Beverly Jean Neilson. Born July 26, 1928 to Asel L. and Edith G. Nuttall in Salt Lake City, Utah. She enjoyed playing the piano and playing hard to get for Roy at the age of 12. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Beverly was employed by The SL Rubber Co., Sperry Rand and Hercules. After retiring, she enjoyed a part time job with Core-Mark.
Roy and Beverly married on February 11, 1948 and together had three loving children. The family was sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They built a legacy that will carry on, consisting of hard work, time spent with family, traditions, and love that will last a lifetime for future generations. They built a cabin in Midway, traveled the US in their motorhome, and were avid golfers, enjoying the game wherever they went. They spent treasured time with family going on several fun adventures and cruises.
Together they are survived by daughter Susan Pepper, son Daniel (Stacy) Neilson and daughter-in-law Jeanine Neilson. Twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Roy is survived by his sister Connie Steadman (Eldon). Beverly is survived by her sister Carolyn Jellinich (Larry).
Together they are proceeded in death by their parents, son Gary and grandson Dallas. Roy is proceeded in death by four siblings. Beverly is proceeded in death by three siblings.
Our family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful staff of Intermountain Hospice for providing tender care in their final days.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, where friends may visit with the family from 11:30 – 1:00 pm prior to the service. Interment Valley View Memorial Park.
