Cris, a kind and caring woman, dedicated her life to nurturing and providing for her family. Growing up in New Mexico, she later resided in Texas. Her mother, Mary Swinehart, was a beautiful woman, and her father, Jesse Lloyd Burt, was a sheriff. Cris was the valedictorian of her high school in Montrose, Colorado, and received a scholarship to BYU.
Cris later moved to Utah, where she met and married Kim Crawford. Their son, Jesse, was born in 1975. Over the next two decades, they shared many wonderful years, traveling to places like Yellowstone and spending quality time with their extended family in Provo. Cris enjoyed attending concerts, jazz games, and various fun activities with the Spencer 5th ward. Cris was married to Kim for 15 years and they later divorced.
Afterward, Cris worked as an ICU nurse for over two decades, providing compassionate care to numerous patients. She possessed a warm and engaging personality, as well as an intuitive understanding of movies and culture. She enjoyed flying to Seattle and savoring seafood along the coast. Later, she visited the beautiful country of Fiji and Australia with her friends. Cris also loved playing Leonard Cohen covers on the guitar and captivating everyone with her beautiful voice and long red hair.
In her free time, she found solace in painting and creating beautiful series of horses. As she aged, she discovered a new passion for cake decorating and would always share her creations with her family. She had a deep love for gardening and animals, especially birds. She would spend hours conversing and playing with her Macaw and African Grey parrot.
No words can truly express the brilliance of her qualities and the profound impact she had on our lives. Cris was a remarkable woman, and she will be deeply missed by many.
On behalf of our family, we would like to express our gratitude to the following for their assistance in caring for my mother. Special friends and neighbors Deanna, Teena and Karen. Also thanks to the staff of Legacy Village Memory Care Facility and Renew Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers or a formal service, we ask that you help someone in need when you see the opportunity. Cris would want that.
