55 years ago, on March 24th,1968, David emerged from the premortal realm… screaming! With the same charisma, wisdom and charm that made you stare at him his whole life. Humbly your friend, he honestly didn’t care if it was disgust, disbelief, an evil eye, or actual awe; such was his enthusiasm for life. David was born in Murray, Utah the firstborn proud son of Frank and Elizabeth (Roeder) Nakata. David was the oldest of four children, two brothers Mike (and Sandrine, with four children) and Nephi (Thanh and daughter Kaeyln), Sister Ruthanne (Mark Greengrass with Taylor and Jordan). David was preceded in death by his father Shoichi (“Frank Junior”) Nakata in 2005.
David loved to record gems of wisdom and share the gospel of Jesus Christ, after serving a mission in Oklahoma City, OK, he met and married the love of his life Melissa Campbell on October 5th, 2006. David rarely did anything alone, his greatest satisfaction in life was spending his time with his most loved treasures his wife Melissa and their family. They share seven beloved children Jessica Lowry (her husband Mathew Owings) and a grandchild Jaxon, Matthew (15), Raiden (14), Charleigh (12), Kiyoshi (11), Ethan (9) and most recently Tobias Rei (5).
From an early age, David showed up for others (especially if uninvited); enthusiastically piling on a double dose of his patented off the wall optimism. His love of God, his family and memorable oddities (such as learning new words which he couldn’t spell or even pronounce) paved the path we will always remember. A family trait, everyone knows it didn’t matter what or where he should have been, he was oblivious to time or didn’t care and yet he was always there.
