Elaine was actively involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where her faith and service touched the lives of many.
She is preceded in death by her sister, LilaRae Stock; her brother, Lynn Smith; her father, Ray Smith; and her mother, Delilah Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Douglas Thorup; her children: Michael (Teresa) Thorup, Randal (Tamra) Thorup, Amy (Darrell) Minshall, Marlo (David) Chappuis, and Kimberly (Brandon) Waters. Brother Jerry (Tima) Smith.
Elaine was a devoted grandmother to 21 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 33 great-grandchildren—with two more on the way.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff at St. Mark's Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided in Elaine's final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 3175 South 3450 West, West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah, at 1:00 p.m.
