

Eppie Pemenio Martinez, 95, passed away on October 18, 2021 I Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born on February 9, 1926 in Durango, Colorado to Carlos and Fermina Martinez. He later married Barbara Dee Carroll on August 7, 1996 in Elko, Nevada. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Eppie Sr was a decorated soldier who began serving his country during WWII as a uranium miner, supporting the US atmospheric weapons development. He then served in the US Army during the Korean War and continued his service as a civilian at Hill Air Force Base. He was a proud patriot, who often donated to various veteran organizations. He always enjoyed good music, especially music you could dance to. He was a master of many skills, including automotive repair, tending to his ranch and animals, and renovating homes beyond their natural beauty.
He is Survived by his wife, Barbara Martinez; son, Eppie Jr. (Mary) Martinez; daughter, Delfa Jaramillo; step-daughter, Cynthia (Howard) Hogan; sister, Evelyn Archibeque; 6 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie, Joe, Frank and Jonny; sisters, Mary E. Vigil and Margaret Romero.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 29 at Valley View Funeral Home located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Services will be held the following day on Saturday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment to follow services at Valley View Memorial Park.
