Glenn was born in Mutual, Carbon County, Utah to Leo Lorraine and Marie Price Alger on January 23, 1929. He was the third of five children (Ray, Reed, Glenn, Boyd, and Janice).
He attended elementary school in Clevland, UT. Middle and High School in Price, UT.
In his very early years, he was raised primarily by his grandmother, due to his mother having to devote most of her time to his older brother Reed, who had been stricken with polio. By his grandmother’s example, she taught him many lifelong principles that he carried with him throughout his life.
He grew to love horses at an early age. Every Spring & Fall, starting at the age of nine, he and his brother Ray would drive a herd of horses from Emery County up to the family’s lease at Moon Lake. During these summers they would take tourists on pack saddle trips into the high Uintah mountains. All throughout his life he loved horses, feeding them, caring for them and riding them. He was a true cowboy in his day.
At age 17 he joined the Marines and after dismantling the Santa Barbara military airport, was honorably discharged due to the cleanup efforts of World War II being over. He then worked in the coal mines for 4 years, then on a cattle ranch in Sheridan, Wyoming. After that, he attended the Agricultural College of Utah (Utah State) and received an associate degree. He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the British Isles mission from 1954 to 1956.
On March 21, 1957, he married a very saintly woman and his eternal love, Jacqueline Addy (of Huddersfield England) in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they lovingly raised six children and spent 64 wonderful years together, growing closer and closer as companions.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he served faithfully in many callings. Of which was Missionary, High Councilor, and Bishop. He made his occupation as a Master Electrician and started his own electrical contracting business when his family was young, of which all his sons worked in at one time or another.
Glenn is survived by all six of his children, Lee (Stephanie), John (Patty), Susan (Darwin), Ruth (Quinn), Steven (Michele), and Gary (Heather); along with 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his wife Jacqueline, three brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter.
The family extends their thanks to AJ Jenkins who has been his nurse and friend since his stroke in 2016 and all the other hospice care givers who have helped dad over the past couple of years.
