

West Valley City, Utah – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilda, who left us unexpectedly on July 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 60 years old. A woman of remarkable strength, grace and warmth. Hilda touched countless lives with her boundless love and resilient spirit.
Hilda was a true warrior, having courageously battled and survived cancer, showcasing unwavering determination and zest for life. Her triumph over illness proved her incredible courage, inspiring everyone who knew her story. Even in adversity, she remained a beacon of hope, always finding joy in small moments.
Born on May 2, 1965, in Mexico City, Mexico, Hilda lived a life full of love, laughter and devotion to family. She made her home in West Valley City, Utah where she was the cherished abuela to her three beloved grandsons: Benicio, Santino, Avelino Garcia, and her newest grand-daughter, Iris Garcia, whose arrival brought immense joy. Hilda’s bond with Benicio, her oldest grandson was particularly profound, filled with shared moments of joy, wisdom and unconditional love that will forever shape his life. She treasured time with Santino, Avelino and Iris while creating cherished memories through gentle guidance, storytelling and warm embraces. Outside family life, Hilda found delight in trips to Wendover, where she loved playing penny machines for hours.
Hilda leaves behind a legacy of kindness and resilience. She is survived by her devoted husband of 18 years, Antonio Garcia; two stepsons, Tony Garcia with his wife Louisa Garcia, Kelly Garcia with his wife Lupita Garcia, 4 Grandchildren and countless family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Pedro Ruvalcaba, and her mother, Maria Vega.
A viewing, rosary will be held on July 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah 84120. A mass & burial will be held on July 18, 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2849 S 9000 W, Magna, Utah 84044, with a luncheon to follow at the church at 3:00 p.m. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
Hilda’s light will continue to shine through with the love she shared and lives she touched. Her sudden departure leaves an immense void, but her memory, especially her special bond with Benicio and her love for Santino, Avelino and Iris, enduring devotion to Antonio, her family, will be cherished forever. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We Love you Hildita!
