Isabelle Susanne Webster Hutton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love in the early hours of May 4, 2024. She will be missed by many. We will miss her passion for life, dry sense of humor, and sense of adventure.
Isabelle was born on January 15th 1932 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada to Thomas Milligan and Isabelle Jerome Webster. She was the youngest of three children. She looked up to her older siblings Jay and Joyce, spending much of her time as a child exploring outdoors and making mischief with Joyce. Summers spent as a child at their family cottage in Belleville, Ontario were some of her favorite childhood memories. Isabelle was a playful tease, sometimes getting herself into trouble at school. She kept her playful spirit alive throughout her life.
Isabelle learned the value of hard work from a young age by watching her dad. She loved spending time with him and always spoke of him with adoration. His service for the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War I and World War II was a legacy she was proud to share with everyone she met.
Isabelle loved to travel and experience new things. She was up for anything as long as it meant an adventure was in store. She was a lifelong learner and found that travel around the world was her favorite teacher.
Her passion for learning and new experiences never dwindled, she continued to learn even in her last week of life. It was this passion that led her to a career in nursing. While she saw this as an opportunity to be self-sufficient, continually learn, and experience the world, she quickly found it was meeting new people and helping those in need that made her feel fulfilled. Nursing felt like home. Isabelle graduated from nursing school in 1954. She worked in both the operating room and as a ship’s nurse. As a ship’s nurse she traveled many places around the world.
Isabelle had the spirit of an artist. She made practice and hard work her teachers as she taught herself to paint, draw, and always improve her artistic abilities. Her family was constantly impressed at her ability to create. She loved to share her artwork with others.
Isabelle was very knowledgeable in holistic healing. She learned about holistic healing from her mom, and later made a successful fifty-year career in reflexology and other natural healing techniques. She loved to teach others how to improve their lives and take care of their bodies through natural remedies. Every visit with her family included a foot treatment, a raindrop, or some other treatment. She often served others with a quick reflexology treatment along with instructions on how to treat themselves when she had to leave.
Isabelle made friends everywhere she went. She loved to be around people, she loved to dance. She was a deeply spiritual person with a strong belief in God.
Isabelle was always proud of her Canadian heritage. She moved to Utah in 1980 to work for LDS hospital, then to Denver and back to Utah. She was proud to be both a Canadian and an American.
Isabelle’s greatest desire was to have her family close and for her children to be close to each other.
The family would like to thank Isabelle’s hospice nurse, Rose Murray and Aspire Home Health and Hospice for all of their kind services taking care of our mom. A special thanks to our family friend Mala as well. He cared for her like she was his own mom. She treasured Mala and he has become part of our family.
Isabelle is survived by her children Leslie Hutton, Brad Hutton, Lorelei (David) Homer and Lara (Wes) Erikson. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Chelsea Baker-Hutton, Cassie (Kyle) Costner, Sharlie Moser, Alex (Jordan) Homer, Sarah Homer, Soren Erikson, and four great-grandchildren (with one more on the way!) and two nieces (Alicia Ferguson and Tara Webster) and one nephew (Mark Alexander). She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Isabelle Webster, her brother Jay (Alice surviving) Webster and sister Joyce (Jim) Alexander, grandson Michael Hutton and great-granddaughter Sophie Costner.
