1951-2012
Jani Lyn Ellis Randall, 61, from Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2012, at her home in the presence of her loving husband, Oren Edward Randall; she succumbed to complications from pneumonia. Jani was born on June 19, 1951, in Rigby, Idaho, to Darrell Dee and Karolyn Irene Ellis. She has three brothers and one sister: Brett Ellis, Bart Ellis, Trent Ellis, and Julie Clifford. After Jani attended and graduated from Rigby high school, she began attending Rick’s College in Rexburg where she was on the folk dance team, the Valhalla dancers. It was on that team that Jani met Oren in the winter of 1971; they were married on March 24, 1972, in Rigby. After college, and while being a devoted mother of five children, Jani became a successful business woman and received many awards over the course of her career. Jani was passionate about the arts and treasured her season tickets to the Symphony, Opera, and Ballet; she loved visiting museums and had a special love for the impressionists, especially Monet. Jani loved the culinary arts and spent years fine-tuning her skills, studying in both Paris and New York. She shared her love of cooking by creating amazing meals for her family and friends. Jani served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; she especially loved her time as Young Women’s president and as a church service missionary ushering for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. However, for all her accomplishments and travels, Jani’s favorite job was that of mother and grandmother. She adored her family and cherished every minute she could spend with them. Jani is survived by her sons Todd (and Katy) Randall, Tory (and Genevieve) Randall, and Trigg (and Kathryn) Randall, and by her daughters Tiffany (and Michael) Brown, and Tara (and Randy) Player. She is also survived by her 14 beautiful grandchildren. Jani was preceded in death by her angel granddaughter, Kaiya Eiko Randall.
A viewing will be held for Jani on Thursday, July 12, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S. West Valley City, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverview LDS ward house, 1325 W. 5550 S. Taylorsville, Utah. Jani lived her life full of love, faith, and family and will now take that love to the other side as she keeps watch over her family and friends. We love your guts, Mom!
