It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Hedman Savage II after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 19 1/4 (77). He was born to loving parents, John Hedman Savage I and Lena Marie Savage (McCreary), on February 29, 1948. He lost his battle on October 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1966. Attended the University of Utah before leaving school to assist in the family business. John’s father started the family business (Savage Glass) in 1966. He devoted his life to the company and took over the family business upon retirement of his parents.
Anyone that knew John, knew he was a true outdoorsman. He was in his element sitting on a hillside in the Book Cliffs. If you measured success by the amount of tackle or gear owned, John would win. He was a very accomplished hunting and fishing guide. Later in life he traded in his rifle and scope for a camera. He was an amazing photographer.
He married LaDean Smith and had 3 beautiful children (Kirk, Nathan and Alyson). They later divorced. He then married Kathryn Walters. Together they blended their families to create one.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Nathan Savage (Hillary), daughter, Alyson (Chuck) Smith, stepson, Chris Searle (Shelli) stepdaughter, Becky (Melissa) Beau and sister, Cora (Gordon) Milar. He will be sorely missed by his 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Kirk and sister, Rose Udy.
