

Leonard was born October 25, 1931, in Lehi, Utah to Earl Albert Groo and Melba Alice Frank Bateman. He attended Jordan High School. He Married Ermelinda Vigil on January 12, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Leonard joined The United States Army and served in The Korean War.
Leonard was an amazing, hardworking, caring, and extremely giving man. He was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love spread beyond his bloodline family. He was everyone’s grandpa. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. In his earlier years, he was on a bowling team. His favorite things to do were to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and sisters. He really enjoyed the family reunions and his yearly hunting trips. In the early evening he would watch the airplanes and reminisce on the good old times and all his life experiences.
Surviving relatives include his Children: Raul Lee Groo (Mary), Raenell Groo Parry (Scott); Grandchildren: Bronwyn Groo, Brandee Groo, Elliot Groo, Raul Lee, Jr. Groo (Jill), Sharnise Kommanivong (Bouaphanh); Great Grandchildren: Azalea, Lily, Akyah, Ayvah, Aysiah, and Benson; Siblings: Reed Groo (Janice), Neldon Groo (Peggy), Alan Groo (JoAnn), Don Groo (Liz), LeeAnn Brockbanck (Merrill).
Preceded in death by his Wife: Ermelinda Vigil Groo; Son: Rulon O’Neal Groo; Grandson: Seth Joseph Garrett; Brothers: Denis Groo, Roger Groo, and Darrel Dee Bateman; Sister: Peggy Draney; Father: Earl Albert Groo; Mother: Melba Alice Frank Bateman.
Leonard will be honored at a viewing on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Valley View Funeral Home 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.
