Louie Ortiz passed on, from his home in Taylorsville, Utah on February 7, 2021, at the age of 78. He has happily returned to his beloved wife, Doreen, and is now in the glorious presence of our Heavenly Father.
As a young man, Louie joined the Armed Forces and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was stationed on Oahu, Hawaii where he met and married Leonella Barbadillo. They were married for twenty-six years and raised four children together.
In 1995, Louie married Doreen Carolyn Grazier, together they were lifelong members of Life Church Utah. They treasured the many friendships they formed, there. In their free time, they attended car shows - both locally and in cities across the state. Louie had a special interest in, and knowledge of, vintage and classic cars. He was a fisherman, traveler and adept gardener. Although not known by many, Louie was a carpenter and like his father, a whittler. He was a gifted artist and included thoughtful and intricate drawings on birthday cards and personal letters to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his seven children: Yvette Rhodes (Chuck), Troy Ortiz, Michelle Ortiz, Shaun Ortiz (Christina), Kathie (Ray) Sangl, Kellie Fortney , and Kenny Baer; eighteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Louie had friendships that were long lasting and knew a great many people who made his life full and worthwhile. He was an intelligent, capable, hardworking man who was a thoughtful neighbor, a loving husband, and a firm and supportive father. A man of great strength and wisdom, he guided his children and grandchildren to the best of his ability. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
No digas en pena que él no es ya, pero vives en la gratitud que era.
Say not in grief he is no more but live in thankfulness that he was.
