Martin Henry O’Brien III (“Papa” to his family and “Marty” to those who know him otherwise), 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025. Papa’s son Tim was by his right side holding his hand through his journey while Papa’s loving wife Cindy was by his left side.
Marty was born on July 18, 1937, to Donald and Elizabeth O’Brien in Pasadena, California.
Marty was united in marriage to Sandy and together they built a wonderful life that revolved around their four children, love for their family, love of animals and Marty’s passion for drag racing.
Papa was a devout Catholic but respected all beliefs. To those who knew Marty, his kindness and deference to those who cared for others and those in need came ahead of his own wants and desires.
After Sandy passed in 2003, Marty was blessed with love and companionship from Cindy. They were united in marriage and have spent nearly 20 beautiful loving years together.
Marty is survived by his wife Cindy and his four children, Patricia, Jeffrey, Timothy, Michael, and 15 grandchildren and great grandchildren along with many loving friends and neighbors.
