1918-2010
There was a joyful homecoming on July 20, 2010 when Mary Bywater reunited with her husband, parents and siblings after 92 beautiful years on earth.
Born in Blanding, Utah on January 12, 1918 she was the oldest daughter of Carl and Pauline Eichenberger. She learned to work hard and take nothing for granted. She helped care for her siblings and eventually, at the age of 11, worked as a nanny. She moved to Salt Lake City with her employer attending West High School eventually graduating from San Juan High School in southern Utah. Married Clarence Roy Bywater September 12, 1942 sealed in the SLC temple in 2006.
Mom was quiet but mighty in spirit. She emulated the definition of homemaker and traditional values. Her hands were always busy baking, sewing and gardening. You didn’t know clean until you’d seen “mom’s clean”! Mom pulled her own taffy, baked her own bread and made her own pies. She found love and fulfillment in being a wife and mother.
A faithful member of the LDS church, she taught the same primary class for over 20 years stopping only to serve in the primary presidency. She was proud of the fact she rarely missed a month “block” teaching in 30 years.
Raising boys meant cheering in the stands at hundreds of baseball, football and basketball games something she continued to do for her grandchildren. She has left her mark on many generations.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Clarence Roy; brothers, Bill, Ed, Fred and Alma (Tarz); sisters Pauline and Pearl.
Survived by her sons: James Carl (Paula), David Roy (Colleen) and Edwin C (Mary), 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and sister Ruth.
