Max Devere Christensen died peacefully at home November 2, 2014 of natural causes at the age of 93. Max was born in Moroni, Utah on August 28, 1921. He was preceded in death by his wife Loyola, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his son Roger Christensen, daughter Nancy Dastrup, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Max was generous, soft spoken and very talented. He was well known for his skill as a brick mason and craftsman. He constructed schools, hospitals, churches, houses and even communities. He was never shy about offering his skill and talent to his friends and family. Max was a member of America's Greatest Generation. He served honorably in WWII but he always questioned why war had to be a part of anyone's life.
Max did not like crowds, conflict, snow, wind, computers, telephones and tomatoes purchased at Walmart. He hated hotdogs. He loved grandkids, great-grandkids, warm weather, dogs, zucchini bread, chocolate chip cookies, coffee, tinkering, dinosaurs, old trucks, fireplaces, tools, rocks, birds, dutch ovens, and garden tomatoes from his backyard. Max never forgot to express his sincere thanks to the family members who cared for him during his latter years.
A viewing for Max will be held Friday November 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the memorial park. www.valleyviewfuneral.com
