Michell Sylvester

Michell Sylvester, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother. and cherished friend passed following a courageous battle with cancer on January 31, 2026, at her home in Bluffdale, Utah at the age of 65.

Michell was born on September 14,1960 to Owen and LaRae Herron in Salt Lake City. She grew up in Magna and graduated from Cyprus High in 1979.

On June 30th, 1979, Michell married Craig Sylvester, the love of her life and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they had four children.

Michell lived her life centered on family. She shared 46 wonderful years with her husband Craig and together they created a home filled with warmth and laughter. She always made room for everyone she knew.

One of her greatest joys in life (or talents) was to scare people with a scream from out of nowhere. Many of us fell for this time after time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Michell enjoyed spending time with her family in Marysville where they had many adventures riding horses and hunting in the mountains. Michell loved her animals. She always had a dog at her feet.

Michell is survived by her husband and children: Jennifer & Kevin Johnstun, Craig Sylvester JR, Stuart & Jennifer Sylvester and Shabrie & Brett Yoder. Along with sisters: Terrie (Gary) Lewis and Lynda (Lynn) Erickson; her mother-in-law, Jody Sylvester; 17 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Michell was preceded in death by her father and mother: Owen and LaRae Herron; brothers: Kelvin and Scott; father-in-law, Rulon Sylvester; sister-in-law, Debbie Olsen; and nephew, Kelvin Erickson.

Michell will be deeply missed and remembered for her playful spirit, kindness, and the love she poured into her family.

Funeral service is on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00am – 14242 S Loumis Parkway, Bluffdale, Utah. Viewing Friday evening February 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Valley View Funeral Home 4335 W 4100 S West Valley City and Saturday from 9:30am to 10:45am at the church.
