Neita June Madsen Stewart, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at her home in Kearns, Utah.
June was born on June 11, 1929 to Virgil and Aneita Madsen in Moroni, Utah. She attended Moroni High School and was so proud to have grown up there. She met and later married Oran Hughes Stewart in 1948, going on to have five children, Richard, Jerry, Terry, Danny, and Nedra. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple.
Once June became a mother, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. June excelled at propping up her loved ones and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She attended every event for her children and always cheered them on, doing the same for the generations to follow. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others.
In 1990, June retired from her job at the Beehive Clothing Mills after 23 years. She was a passionate member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she loved her callings in the primary presidency and Stake mutual women’s sports program, where she was seen running up and down the court as a basketball referee or holding her own as a volleyball referee. Those callings made her so happy and proud, and her love of sports continued through her life. Originally a BYU football fan, she grew to love cheering on the Utes, just to tease her ardent BYU supporting family. She proudly displayed her bright red U of U Christmas ornament front and center on her tree every year.
June filled her home with warmth and love for her children and later for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, and she was quick to accept other people into her family and treat them as her own. A house full of family warmed her heart more than anything else.
June was lovingly welcomed by those who passed before her, including: her husband, her parents, her siblings, and many other friends and loved ones. She is survived by her daughter: Nedra Stewart; her sons: Richard (Dixie) Stewart, Jerry (Kristine) Stewart, Terry (Dian) Stewart, and Dan (AnnaLisa) Stewart; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A viewing for June will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Facemasks recommended.
