

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Peggy Van Gerven passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 17th, 2024. Peggy was born February 4, 1939 on her grandparents kitchen table in Salt Lake City. Peggy attended Davis High School and went on to further her education by graduating business school. Peggy put her wit and skills to work as an executive assistant for Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency until she retired in March of 2003.
Peggy married Jerry Van Gerven in March 1964. Peggy and Jerry went on to raise four children and built an incredible life together in West Valley. Peggy was a backgammon champion and known by family and friends as a card shark. She was also an avid bowler and golf enthusiast. Peggy loved quilting and making crafts. She valued family time above all else. Peggy was known for her quick wit and gigantic heart. Peggy was a true friend and someone who loved others unconditionally.
Peggy is survived by her daughter Connie Anderson, granddaughters Mindi Barney (Darrell), Lindsey Finch (Tom) and Danyel Staley (Kody) as well as her 8 amazing great grandchildren of whom she cherished. Peggy nicknamed herself GG once she became a great grandma and from that moment on was known by most as GG. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, children Michael, Kevin and Teri.
Services will be held Monday at Noon at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home 4335 West 4100 S. West Valley City. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service.
