Our precious father Ramon Rubio peacefully passed away June 9, 2018 at the age of 78, in Murray, Utah. He was born in Aldama, Chihuahua Mexico, on November 29, 1939 to Jesus and Rafaela Rubio. He was surrounded by family as he took his last breath due to untreatable lung disease. He chose to pass on with the comfort and care at Intermountain Medical Center ICU respiratory. Those present were his immediate family, wife Manuela, son’s Sergio, Ramon, Jaime, Javier, and Zachary. His siblings Hector, Lupe, Carmen, Rafaela and Silvia. Also present were grandkids, great-grand kids, and extended family.
Ramon grew up in Los Leones Chihuahua, on his family’s farm. There was a lot of work to be done on the farm, work was encouraged instead of school, he only finished 5th grade. He married Manuela in 1963 and wanted the best for his growing family. Early on he was attracted to working in the United States on work visas. He realized the potential for a good life in the states, so he eventually moved his family to Utah in 1972.
Ramon was known as a hard-working honest man. He held various jobs throughout his life, some of them were, a guide and outfitter, dairy farm foreman, miner, construction worker, he helped to build the LDS conference center building. He was well loved by co workers and friends, and his honesty was valued by all.
Ramon loved to spend time with his family. Everyone looked forward during family get togethers to his disc carnitas cooking and famous salsa. He enjoyed the outdoors, specially fishing the lakes and rivers of Utah. He enjoyed watching boxing, going out to Wendover, NV, and trying his luck at Powerball. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, and great grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all.
A viewing and celebration of life for Ramon will be on June 16, 2018 at 6pm. It will be held at Valley View Memorial Home, 4335 W. 4100 S. WVC, UT.
