Rex was born on Feb 4, 1948, in Murray, UT to Walter Cecil Cain and Lucy Elizabeth Grant Cain.
He was a retired Custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Rex loved helping and participating in the Special Olympics and Handicap sports. (There is a very large box full of medals he won.) He was very involved in the Salt Lake Valley Handicap BSA Scout Troop, along with his family. He loved flying kites, making everyone around him laugh. He had a great sense of humor. He loved traveling and working on cars with his brother, Ron. He enjoyed helping his grandfather on the farm, driving farm trucks and tractors as his help was needed. He loved nuts, olives and pumpkin pie. He was a formidable foe on the chess board.
Rex very much enjoyed driving and had an extensive knowledge of the streets of the Salt Lake Valley. He could tell you what old building used to be where a new construction was happening. He could give you street coordinates for almost anything in the valley.
He had a keen memory. He could give you a detailed account of any event he witnessed.
With the loving help of his family, Rex was able to conquer his physical handicaps. He led as normal a life as was possible. Special thanks to all the people in his life who understood him and helped him along the way.
He is survived by one aunt and one uncle, many cousins, 5 nieces, 1 nephew, many great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ronald Cain and sister-in-law, Ima Jean Robbs Cain, grandparents, as well as many uncles and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his ex-wife Donna.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday April 6, 2024, at 11am at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home. They are located at 4335 W. 4100 S West Valley City, UT Burial will be immediately after. Please prepare for weather changes.
