

Sheila Wursten (Henderson) Barker, beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home Friday, August 30, 2024. Sheila was born June 12, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Chester A Henderson and Bernice Mecham (Wursten) Henderson. Sheila was the oldest of three children, Dee Wursten Henderson (Deceased 2012) and Jeannine Wursten Hawkins.
Sheila married Raymond T Staples on January 7, 1956 (deceased 1993). Together they had six children – Their greatest work. She later married Ray Carlisle Barker on October 4, 2004 (deceased 2016). She will joyously join those who preceded her in death - both parents, her brother Dee (Norma/Mary C), both husbands and one grandchild.
Sheila is survived by her sister Jeannine Hawkins (Wayne); her six children Joseph Staples (Terry), Kathy Bashar (Mohammad), Carol Cruz (John), Larry Staples, Clinton Staples and David Staples (Robin); thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Sheila loved music and teaching. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School, obtained a teaching certificate and taught school in Twin Falls. After marrying Raymond Staples, she moved back to Idaho Falls and began teaching piano lessons to individuals and groups. Before moving to Granger, Utah in 1972 she ran her own pre-school in her home where the lower level was designed and built for that purpose. In Utah she was a substitute teacher and taught one of her son’s (Clinton) third grade class. She also taught group and individual piano, and organ, lessons for Hart Music. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing too. Sheila was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ray and Sheila were sealed with all their children in the Salt Lake Temple shortly after moving to Utah. Later in life Sheila moved to Ogden, UT. She soon met Ray Barker through a church dance, and later married. Ray got her a job working for the US department of Forestry. After retiring from the Forestry Department, she spent the remaining years of her life enjoying family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Sheila will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton, Utah 84065. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Logan City Cemetery, 1000 North 1200 East, Logan, Utah 84321.
