Sylvia was born in Magna, Utah to Charles Ivan Hatch and Helen Merle Griffin on September 15, 1953. She was one of 9 children and grew up close to her brothers and sisters. She graduated Cyprus High in 1971. She met and married Dan R. Bowers in October 1971. She was then blessed with what she would call her life’s purpose; the calling of motherhood. Sylvia lived for her four children, Ryan, Glen, Lisa and Stacie. She gave everything she had, heart and soul, to her children.
Sylvia was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, but her favorite was anything involving the youth or primary children. And they adored her. She just had a way with all children and taught countless children along the way. She had a simple testimony that was witnessed in the way she lived. Later in life, she became involved with genealogy and spent countless hours diving into her ancestry, making scrapbooks filled with stories and pictures for her family. She enjoyed all the holidays, yard work, and beautifying her home with an eye for design and decorating. Her home was always a warm, comforting place to visit.
Sylvia lived to unselfishly serve those around her; lifting spirits with a joke, sharing a laugh, giving compliments, and always added personal unique details to any gift she was giving. She was always more concerned with her family than herself and always put herself second to others. She was the first to offer you a cold Pepsi or snack. Sylvia was one of the most non-judgmental, accepting, and loving persons you would ever meet. Even up to the very end, she kept her sense of humor and kept us laughing with her stories and jokes. She was the very best grandmother to her 7 grandchildren, Malayna, Braxton, Justin, Saige, Camden, Makaylee, and Koen. She created priceless memories with them by creating magic in the special visits to grandma's house, birthdays or holidays, or at the family cabin (that was always a much funner place to be because she was there).
She is now rejoined with her youngest daughter and they are having a beautiful reunion in heaven. She was the core of our family and will be deeply missed. Until we meet again, we love you mom.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dan; sons: Ryan Bowers of West Valley City, Utah, and Glen (Shylah) Bowers of Magna, Utah. Daughter: Lisa (James) of Cleveland, Utah; and 7 grandchildren. Siblings: Charles Hatch, Doug Hatch, Marvin (Joyce) Hatch, Janet Hatch, Sally (Mike) Sadler, and Cory (Collette) Hatch.
Preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Helen Hatch; brother: Tim; sister: Barbara; parents-in-law: Robert and Earlean Bowers; and daughter: Stacie.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of CNS Hospice and her caring team of doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
