Valerie Jeanne Sheryl Fontaine, 51, passed away on November 4, 2024, in West Valley City, Utah after a courageous 2-year battle with cancer. Born on February 26, 1973, in Southbridge, Massachusetts, Valerie was a force of nature, always living life on her own terms, with a sense of adventure and a passion for the things that brought her joy. From the start, Valerie marched to the beat of her own drum, refusing to be confined by expectations or the ordinary, carving out her own path in a world that often preferred rules and structure.
Valerie was a true free spirit, embracing life's unpredictability with open arms. Whether she was out in the fresh air, bending the rules, or simply enjoying quiet moments with the people who mattered most, Valerie made sure life was never dull. Her contagious energy and ability to find joy in the simplest things made every moment feel special, especially when she was with her children.
Valerie was a mother who showed her children the importance of living authentically, embracing the unexpected, and loving without reservation. Despite the miles between them. Valerie wasn’t the conventional type, but her unique way of parenting taught her children to be bold, fearless, and unapologetically themselves. No matter where life took them, her unwavering support and boundless love for Krystal Fontaine, Scott Cline, Michael Cline, Kaleb Wintle, Kaden Wintle and Vivian Humphrey remained a constant throughout.
Valerie’s life was a testament to the freedom of living without boundaries, of loving without limits, and of always seeking out the beauty in the chaos. She was not one to follow the conventional path, but her legacy is one of authenticity, love, and the courage to live fully, without apology. Her loyalty to her friends, who she considered her extended family, will miss her laughter, her free-spirited nature, and the way she made everything feel a little more alive.
Valerie is preceded in death by her son, Scott Cline; her mother, Cynthia Ann Baker; her sister, Wendy; and her brother, Michael Jackson. Though she may have left this world too soon, her influence on those who knew her will remain for a lifetime.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
