Carol A. Mason

Carol Ann (Reece) was born January 30, 1940 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of Daniel and Lauretta (McGrail) Reece. Following graduation from Tyler High School, in Tyler, TX., she attended and graduated from North Texas State University with a teaching certificate. Following her graduation, she taught elementary school at Arvada, CO. and then Fountain Valley, CA. During this time period, she met the love of her life, Barry Mason. They were married at Balboa Island, California on July 11, 1964.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, her cats, gardening and quilting. She was a member of the Back Bay Quilting Club. She also enjoyed getting together often with quilting friends, who called themselves the “Quilt & Gab” Group. She was also a member of the Balboa Yacht Club and had served on the clubs gardening committee.

Her family who survives her, includes her husband, Barry; daughter, Heidi Henkemeyer of Algonquin, Illinois and son Marshall Mason and his wife Keista (Maher) of Riverside, CA.; grandsons, Adam and Collin Henkemeyer of Algonquin, IL; Reece and Branden Mason of Riverside, CA.; Sisters, Dixie Heins of Riverside, CA., and Gayle Reece of Tyler, TX.; Nieces Carol Heinz of Riverside, CA. and Heidi Taylor of San Diego, CA; Nephews Mark Heinz of Las Vegas, NV. And Eric Semler of Washington state. Also surviving her, are her beloved cats, Frankie and Johnny. She was preceded in death by her parents.
