Christopher Viloria Sarangay was born on October 12, 1963 in San Diego, California to parents Conrado and Lydia Sarangay. He grew up with three older sisters, Lynn, Lydy and Lillian. Chris attended Montgomery High School and graduated in 1981. For college, he traveled up the coast to attend the University of California Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Business Administration. Then in 1996, Chris married Kathleen Abrigo, whom he is survived by, along with their two children Steven and Candice.
Chris worked for Ingram Micro for over 25 years as a valued member of their sales division. However in 2013, Chris was diagnosed with kidney failure, and thus underwent dialysis treatment for 8 and ½ years. This took a toll on his life as Chris was also battling diabetes and Parkinson's disease. Yet despite his illness, Chris was a beacon of hope and touched the lives of so many people. He never missed the opportunity to joke around or indulge in his favorite foods. His life took a turning point, when he finally received a kidney transplant surgery on January 5, 2022. While the kidney was in superb condition and responding well, his body sadly could not keep up with infections that followed in the coming year. On January 5, 2023, Chris passed away at the age of 59 at UCLA Medical Center.
Throughout his life, Chris would often be seen engaging in his favorite activities such as, watching and attending sports games, collecting and reading comic books, compete in arcade game competitions, which won him awards, finding new delicious food places to eat at, playing cards, especially poker, planning endless fun vacations and caring deeply for his family. Chris was known as a sports expert, comic book connoisseur, avid video gamer, foodie enthusiast, movie fanatic, poker genius, and a loving husband, father, brother, friend and colleague. We will truly miss him.
