Dolores Darlene (Gerri) Hill passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020 surrounded by family. Born on January 27, 1938, Gerri was a business owner, wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her husband, Milt, and together they made several cross-country moves as a young family to follow their dreams. In the late 1960’s, they made one final move to California before purchasing Alexander’s Moving & Storage in 1977. Together, Milt and Gerri built the business that is today Alexander’s Mobility Services. Milt had the vision, charisma, and leadership that made him the face of the company, but it was Gerri who had the toughness, compassion, competitiveness and conservative nature that earned the company its ‘whatever it takes’ motto. Together, they made a wonderful team. Gerri took great pride in the company and in the people that worked at Alexander’s. She remained a key business advisor throughout her life.
In the late 1980’s, Gerri stepped away from the day-to-day activities of the business and focused all of her energy on her family. She loved her family and treasured her role as full-time mother and grandmother. Gerri was a tough, strong, competitive person who enjoyed pinochle with her neighbors, and bowling league. She was an avid sports mother and was active in Little League and Softball League as well as traveling extensively in support of her daughter’s barrel racing campaigns. Her unwavering love of family and faith gave her the strength to survive the early loss of two of her children, Dale and Jodi. She adored her role as grandmother and great-grandmother to her eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Known as Meme, Gerri loved babies and delighted in each new addition to her family. She had the most amazing relationship with each of her grandchildren. Gerri was their sounding board and confidant and the impact of her love and advice will remain her legacy.
Gerri enjoyed many activities and loved sharing them with her family. She relished country music, soap operas, WWE wrestling, plays, Angels baseball and arts and crafts with equal passion. Even her arts and crafts reflected a wide range of interests as she enjoyed kiln clay art, knitting and crocheting.
Sadly, Gerri was predeceased by her husband, Milt, in 1996 and two children, Dale and Jodi.
She is survived by her children Linda Sciarra, Rhonda Hill and Don Hill; their spouses Skip Sciarra and Joanie Hill; eight grandchildren Heather, Ashley, Shana, Samantha, Michael, Erin, Craig and Erica; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
