Dorothy Ann Funke, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 94, in Westminster, California. She was born on June 14, 1930, in Red Rock, Texas, to August and Gertrude Stall. Dorothy’s strong faith, kindness, and devotion to her family were the cornerstones of her life.
Dorothy was a proud graduate of St. Anne's Catholic School and later married Albert Funke, with whom she shared a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised five children: Timothy, Elaine, Eileen, Robert, and Pamela. Dorothy's legacy lives on through her children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and cherished.
Dorothy’s work ethic was second to none. She spent many years in retail clothing, always putting in the hard work and dedication that defined her character. Yet, beyond her career, it was her faith, generosity, and kindness that truly set her apart. Dorothy was known for her unwavering strength, her sweet nature, and her determination—"sweet as pie and tough as nails," as many would say. She found joy in church events, treasured moments spent with her family, and a love for baseball.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Funke; her parents, August and Gertrude Stall; and her sister, Janelle Lewis. She is survived by her children, Timothy Funke, Elaine Funke-Stoddard, Eileen Sample, Robert Funke, and Pamela Funke-Montenegro; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Westminster, with a graveside service to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach.
Dorothy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her faith, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Rest in peace, Dorothy—you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
