I am at loss for  words about Doug's passing. I have known Doug for 45 years, I met him at Chapman Jr High during PE. He was on crutches after knee surgery  from playing football.  I was intimidated by him , but we eventually became longtime friends. We played sports together, hung out at his house worked at the VVTC, drove the same red Toyota truck, and did almost everything throughout Jr High and High School and after together. Have endless stories of Doug and some of the craziness we did together and with our group of friends. Here are a couple. One time  Doug and I were on the same soccer team, his mom ( one of the funniest and best people ever) was the team mother, she told Doug she was so excited that another Japanese kid was on his team, he argued that there wasn't, she didn't believe him, so at school the next day he said I have to go to his house after school to meet his mother but didn't say why, so we went.  He introduced me and she seemed very upset and shouted at me " Your not Japanese" ( iam Italian) and chased me and Doug out of the house with a broom. She chased me again years later when i hit he Lava rocks in the front yard with my VW, of course Doug made sure she knew i hit them. We and our group friends got kicked off and almost out of Disneyland for a water fight on a ride on Grad night for Chapman, we got kicked out of Mr. Vargas class and spent 2 weeks in Principal's office, we were in band together at PHS and quite after 1 year cause it was band.  Chased each other through the streets of Garden Grove in our matching red Toyota trucks. One time 4 of us had a manager meeting for the movie theater at Spires, (Doug being the only Japanese guy),  the greeter says  4 for breakfast?   Doug says NO! only 3 , Iam the gardener. Typical Doug humor. So many more to tell. Unfortunately we had a falling out and our friendship suffered, we got together couple times and were trying again when he passed, I love him, I miss him and thank him for all the laughs.
