Jack Schroeder beloved husband, father, grandfather and colleague passed away at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on May 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 27 years, Debbie, and children Susan and Andy Paikoff, Shawn Schroeder, Tamara Schroeder, Kathi Brooks, Joe and Kristen Schroeder as well as 12 grandkids. Jack was born in November 21, 1940, grew up in La Crosse, WI, where he attended Aquinas High School and served in the US Navy on the USS Topeka.
Jack was truly an American success story, starting out with nothing and working his way to become an extremely successful business man. On the day before he went into the hospital, a close friend spoke with Jack and as usual, he was at his desk, working; not because he had to, but because that was who he was, he was a worker. Jack was the President and founder of Lightning Diversion Systems (LDS) in Huntington Beach and served as the principal business and marketing initiator for his beloved company. Prior to founding LDS in 1982, Jack held various management positions with Communication Components Corporation, which later became Rockwell International, and North American Aviation. He also held five patents for various processes for manufacturing and products for lightning protection and other aircraft applications. He was an active participant in several well-known lightning protection associations including SAE, SAMPE and the Air Force Association in the US and EUROCAE IN Europe. Jack has been Chairman of the SAE Technical Lightning Committee for the past three years and a member for over 25 years.
A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held Saturday, May 28th at noon, in the Westminster Memorial Park main chapel with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jack’s name to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements under the direction of Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary ~FD1030, Westminster, CA.
