

Jeanne Alma Oliver was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Jeanne was born on October 24, 1930 at Edison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Patrick and Mildred Ryan. Jeanne grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Jeanne was raised with three siblings. She had two older sisters, Marilyn and Pat and one younger sister Barbara. Jeanne was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Jeanne enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. While growing up, one of her best friends was Kay. Later in life, she became friends with Dawn, Mary, Leah and Bernice.
On July 8, 1950 Jeanne exchanged wedding vows with Joseph Raymond Oliver at Gloucester Courthouse of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Empathic and loyal, Jeanne was committed to making her new family happy.
Jeanne worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Jeanne was blessed with three children, two sons, John and Raymond and one daughter Mary Ann. Another blessing for Jeanne was the gift of six grandchildren, Lynn, Barbara, Lisa, Christi, Tony and Britney and nine great-grandchildren; Arissa, Curtis, David, Sydney, Trevor, Shaine, Jakob, Thor and Cassidy.
Fortunately, Jeanne enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Jeanne worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was homemaker. Jeanne always sought out to do what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Jeanne enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. One of her favorite pursuits was reading. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Throughout her life, Jeanne was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout her later years, Jeanne was an active member of Tops.
She is survived by her children; Mary Ann, John and Raymond, grandchildren; Lynn, Barbara, Lisa, Christi, Tony and Britney and nine great-grandchildren. Jeanne will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel. Simply stated, Jeanne was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jeanne leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Jeanne Alma Oliver...Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother.
