My name is Jerry Hennigan I was in USMC bootcamp with Ken, the kid from Euclid. We went to Ft Knox for tank school then to 29 Palms together. He was the reason I became a Police Officer. I left in 95 and we lost contact. Was just thinking about Ken and found out he was gone. I’m devastated at your loss. He was a stand up person and will be missed.

Nicole, children and entire Pate Family ~ my deepest sympathy for your loss of Ken.  I am deeply saddened to find he has passed.  My entire family loved Ken; he was a good man. Ken & Nicole,

It was always fun working with Ken, as he had a way of putting a cheerful spin on everything we seemed to get involved in, and I will always remember it was Ken who talked me into coming up and looking at the condos in Laguna Niguel.

I ended up buying a condo in your neighborhood and really enjoyed having you two as neighbors.  You two were always special to me, even after I got married and moved away.

I am glad I was able to make the short memorial video for you. The smiles on your face Ken, in most of those photos, is the way I remember you, always smiling.

Nicole, you and the kids will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Ken,  We worked together at the Westminster Police Department for more than twenty years.  During this time,I always enjoyed working with you.  You were cheerful and had the energy of an Eveready battery.  I enjoyed your stories about trying to call into the morning talk radio shows on your drive to work.  Ken you were nonstop looking for the bad guys and you caught many of them.  Ken you were a model police officer, a great husband,father and a friend.  I know your wife, Nicole, and children, Justin, Landon and Kennedy are proud of you. Ken, it's been a good ride and thank you for being my friend.

Nicole, I just heard about this and I am so sorry for your loss.  We are practically neighbors and I often have seen Ken driving around in his car.  He was very genuine and kind.  He will be missed.  If I or Holly can do anything for you please don't hesitate to ask.  I can't even imagine how Justin must be feeling.  This hurts.

You were a character to work with, never a dull moment. As hard as we were on each other, we always seemed to still get along and do the job. You gave me the nickname 'ck' which I thought was cool because I was told if a senior officer gives you a nickname that means they like you (haha). From the days we carpooled to the days we had our cheap breakfast stops at Subway...I am honored to know you. We never had much in common until the birth of our kids. You were such a devoted dad. It seemed like we were always sharing baby stories or pics. 
You were a great street cop. You knew the crooks and they knew you. We worked alot of shifts together and went on countless 'hot calls'--some crazy ones. If your children read this I want them to know you were one of the good guys, a hero, a friend, a proud dad and husband. Thank you Ken for the memories, we will meet again.

Ken, your warmth and presence will be missed by everyone who knew and loved you, but the memory of your smile and laughter will be felt in our hearts forever.

Kenâ€¦you made us feel welcome from the first day we moved into the neighborhood. I miss our conversations and bike rides down to the beach. I am honored to have known you and you will always be in my thoughts.

A very supportive family member.  I was always pleased when he walked in the gym with his sons and have great conversations.  I wish more fathers were as supportive as he was.  I'm shocked and saddened by this news.  The Pate family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Ken...I never met you...but your sister Chris and I are like sisters...she has told me so very much about you, what a loving husband, caring father and dedicated police officer you were.  I just want you to know that I am here for Chris and always will be.
