Linda was born on January 30, 1947, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was the daughter of Salvatore Beneditto Versaci and Rose Serritella Versaci She was raised in Astoria, New York, where her vibrant personality and love of learning began to shine. Linda attended St. Vincent Ferrer High School in Manhattan before earning her Bachelor of Arts in English from Pace University in Manhattan. She later moved to Southern California, where she completed a Master of Arts in English Literature at California State University, Fullerton.
Linda was married to George Frederick Bock for 12 years. The two first met as teenagers while attending neighboring high schools in Manhattan—George at the nearby all-boys school and Linda at the all-girls St. Vincent Ferrer. Together they raised two daughters, Jennifer Rebecca and JoAnna Liza, who remained the center of Linda’s life.
Linda began her professional career as an elementary school teacher, teaching for 12 years in both New York City and Fountain Valley, California. She was adored by her students for her warmth, humor, and dedication. She later built a successful career in advertising sales, working with organizations including PennySaver, AT&T Yellow Pages, the Cerritos Newspaper, and Wedding Pages Magazine.
In the final chapter of her professional life, Linda devoted herself to serving others as an Ombudsman with the Council on Aging – Southern California. For the last 10 years, she advocated for residents in skilled nursing facilities, bringing compassion, dignity, and a strong voice to elderly individuals who needed it most.
Above all, Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. She never missed a moment to celebrate her daughters and granddaughters, attending every birth, wedding, graduation, dance recital, and performance she possibly could. She especially loved watching her granddaughter Mikayla play soccer, attending Kylie and Gianna’s dance performances, cheering on JoAnna at her soccer games, and traveling to Southern Methodist University football games to watch Brooke perform with the Pom squad.
Linda had the warmest smile and greeting for everyone she met. She was extremely intelligent, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a laugh that was entirely her own. She gave everything she had to support her family in every possible way.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—summer backyard barbecues with family and friends, cooking and entertaining, and sharing good food and wine. Linda loved traveling to Dallas several times each year to visit Jennifer and her family, where mother-daughter lunches and shopping days became treasured traditions. She also enjoyed pickleball, golfing, tennis, walking her beloved dogs, and attending concerts in the park with JoAnna.
Linda was also an accomplished artist in her earlier years and created several beautiful commissioned paintings in Orange County. Though she loved sunny Southern California, she remained a New Yorker at heart.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer Rebecca Bock Lancashire and JoAnna Liza Bock Pritchard; her sons-in-law, David Anthony Lancashire and Christopher Lauren Pritchard; and her cherished granddaughters, Mikayla Rose Edwards, Gianna Lauren Pritchard, Brooke Makenna Barnes, and Kylie Aspen Barnes.
