Manuel De Jesus Lino

The funeral service will be held at noon on May 26, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 19191 17th Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. Branch President Denovan Lino of the La Rosa Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Westminster Memorial Park and Mortuary are handling funeral arrangements.

Manuel was born to Paulo Agustin Lino and Maria Norberta Duran in San Salvador, El Salvador on December 24, 1957. Manuel migrated to the United States in the '80s and called the U.S. his home. He attended San Jacinto College in Texas, and pursued a Business Administration degree. After a stay in Texas, he made Westminster, California his home.

Manuel worked as a bus driver for Durham Transportation and finished his career before being placed in disability with the Cypress School District. Manuel was an excellent bus driver winning several local, state, and national bus-driving road-eo competitions. Manuel had a passion for the ocean. He began lifeguarding as a teen, then joined his country's swimming and water polo teams, winning a silver medal in water Polo for El Salvador at the Pan-American Olympics. Manuel also served his community by joining the Green Cross in El Salvador and helping those hurt by war. Manuel was an active member of the American Red Cross, traveling all over the western hemisphere providing disaster relief. Manuel was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in a variety of positions, though his passion was always serving the youth. He became involved with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scoutmaster for over ten years for at-risk youth and helping several of them achieve the highest rank of Eagle. Manuel continued to mentor several of his youth for many years after they received their Eagle Scout awards.

Manuel married Sonia Bermudez; they were married for 30 years. They have five children and ten grandchildren, with one on the way.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Sonia Lino, and his sons and daughters, Heymi Salinas, Denovan Lino (Cheryl), Bertha Rodriguez (Edgar), Josue Bermudez (Janet), and Manuel Lino, Jr (Emily). He is also survived by his grandsons and granddaughters Ezra Rodriguez, Eli Rodriguez, Ezias Rodriguez, Axl Salinas, Kevin Lino, Keira Lino, Raquel Lino and Grayson Lino, Jaylenie Bermudez and Josiah Bermudez, and a grandbaby on the way. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Luis Lino, Rene Balmore Lino, Gloria Jovel, Marina Masadeh, Bernardo Antonio Lino, Dora Delmi Gasca, Jose Adalberto Lino, and other family and friends.

Manuel is preceded in death by Paulo Lino, Maria Norberta Duran, and Pablo Lino. Instead of flowers, memorial donations may be given to American Kidney Fund or American Diabetes Association.
