Maria Loini Pa’u was born on May 7, 1940, in Pago Pago, American Samoa. She passed away on January 5, 2026, in Orange, California, surrounded by the love and legacy of her family.
Maria was educated in American Samoa, where she attended St. Mary’s, a private school that helped shape the values of faith, discipline, and compassion she carried throughout her life. She was known for her quiet strength, unwavering devotion to family, and deep pride in her Samoan heritage. Maria’s life was centered on love, service, and caring for those around her, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured for generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ta‘alolomana Punimatagi Pa’u, Sr., and her son, Danny Ta‘alolo Pa’u.
Maria is survived by her loving children:
Ta‘alolo Puni Pa’u, Jr.; Puni Ta‘alolo Pa’u; Sonny Ta‘alolo Pa’u, Sr.; Hanna Ta‘alolo (Moli) Pa’u; Billy Ta‘alolo Pa’u; and Amy Hayes-Grosso.
She is also lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life.
A visitation/viewing will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Westminster Memorial Park Main Chapel.
An interment service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Westminster Memorial Park Mausoleum of Eternal Light. A reception will be held afterward in the Westminster Memorial Park Hospitality Room from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Maria Loini Pa’u will be remembered for her love, grace, and the strong foundation she built for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
