Mary Elaine Cady

Mary passed away peacefully at Quail Run Assisted Living in Albany, Oregon on April 5,2022. She was born at home in Lake Park, Minnesota to Harold and Gladys Cure on August 20, 1930. Mary’s parents and siblings Irvin and Barbara moved to Huntington Beach, California while she was in her early teens. She attended Dwyer Middle School and graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1948.

She attended Long Beach City College to become a dental assistant where she worked in that profession off and on for several years. She and Joseph Cady were married on June 14,1952 at the First United Methodist Church in Huntington Beach. The family resided in Huntington Beach and raised their three children, Joseph (Hal), Charles (Chuck), and Cheryl.

Upon retiring, Mary and Joe moved to Brownsville, Oregon in 1980. They were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Albany, Oregon. Mary continued to be involved in P.E.O. She loved spending time with family and friends whether it was going on various camping trips, playing table games or trips to the Oregon coast and of course getting together for the holidays.

Shortly after Joe’s passing Mary moved to the Mennonite Village Retirement Community in Albany, Oregon. She was involved in activities in the village and made many new friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joe, grandson Brian Paul, her sister Barbara Kerr and her brother-in-law Al (Tiny) Kerr. She is survived by her sons, Hal, wife Cynthia, Chuck, wife Gail, daughter Cheryl Rodnick, husband Ken, grandchildren Alex Cady and Maureen Cady. She has a host of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and nephew.

Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service for Mary will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at Westminster Memorial Park Mortuary, 14801 Beach Blvd, Westminster, CA 92683.
